September 4, 2010, 2:31 amand water resistant, relying on the Pottery Barn brand name (and getting the umbrella color that matches your Pottery Barn chair cushions), or would you avoid polyester at all costs and buy a Sunbrella fabric patio umbrella and new Sunbrella cushions? -
What kind of lights would be best for a patio umbrella-electric, battery, or solar?

Am not enthused about running an electric cord but wonder how long the batteries would last on a battery operated umbrella. Or would an umbrella with solar operated lights be satisfactory. -

Portrait and fashion photographers! What is your favorite soft box/ umbrella light?
August 27, 2010, 12:40 amI'm a college student looking to invest in my first professional photography light. I'm leaning towards soft box but not sure which type to buy. What would you suggest? Small, octagonal, large square? Please let me know a specific type/company name and a link if you can. If you're anti soft box, tell me why and tell me what you would suggest. I am a portrait photographer but do enjoy some fashion portraits. I was thinking of a small soft box for the edgy shadows. Let me know what you use. -
